A collaboration with acclaimed Thai designer and storyteller Phannapast ‘Yoon’ Taychamaythakool

Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok unveils its enchanting Mid-Autumn Festival creation, the ‘A Moonlit Celebration’ Mooncake Collection 2026. Created in collaboration with Phannapast ‘Yoon’ Taychamaythakool, the acclaimed Thai artist, designer and storyteller, the collection draws inspiration from her cherished childhood memories of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival within a Thai-Chinese family. Blending contemporary motifs with vibrant colours and rich cultural symbolism, the collection will be available from 1 August 2026 at THB 3,688 net per set.

Through the concept of ‘A Moonlit Celebration’, Phannapast revisits the cherished Mid-Autumn traditions of her Thai-Chinese upbringing. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday, 25 September. Beneath the glow of the full moon, families gather around beautifully adorned tables featuring fresh flowers, glowing candles and an array of mooncakes. Arches of sugarcane, traditionally believed to form a celestial entrance, symbolise prayers and blessings ascending from the earthly realm to the heavens.

Reimagining these treasured customs through a contemporary lens, Phannapast brings to life a whimsical tale of two jade rabbits journeying across a serene night sky aboard a majestic bird of paradise. Carrying hopes, dreams and blessings, they travel towards the luminous moon, creating a visual narrative that seamlessly blends heritage with imagination. Through its intricate design and storytelling, the collection reflects Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok’s enduring commitment to exceptional craftsmanship while celebrating a beloved tradition in a distinctly modern way.

Guests may savour four exquisite flavours, each carefully crafted to leave a lasting impression. The collection includes ‘Royal Custard’, the signature flavour that delighted guests last year, alongside ‘Ruby Strawberry’, featuring strawberries sourced from the Royal Project in Chiang Mai. ‘Golden Monthong & Salted Egg Yolk’ showcases Thailand’s prized Monthong durian from Chanthaburi, while ‘Emerald Pistachio’ highlights the rich flavour of premium Italian pistachios.

Presented in an elegant wooden box containing eight mooncakes, the set is adorned with intricate laser-cut motifs of jade rabbits and the celestial moon. Accompanying the box is a luxurious velvet-style tote bag designed by Phannapast ‘Yoon’ Taychamaythakool, featuring her beloved jade rabbits, a luminous moon and delicate peonies. In Chinese culture, peonies symbolise prosperity, honour, love and good fortune. Beautifully designed and thoughtfully curated, the collection makes a meaningful gift for family members, cherished friends, respected loved ones and valued business partners during the Mid-Autumn season.

The ‘A Moonlit Celebration’ Mooncake Collection will be offered at a special early-bird price of THB 3,188 net per set until 31 July 2026.
