Albert Bichot acquires the “Pièce des Présidents” at the 160th Hospices de Beaune wine auction

It is in an unprecedented context that the 160th Hospices de Beaune wine auction took place on Sunday December 13.

The sale which was initially scheduled on Sunday, November 15 was postponed and finally took place in small committee with the main professional buyers, but also on-line for the French and International clients who were unable to attend. This charity sale, whose profits are donated to the Hospital of Beaune had this year a particular and clear resonance.

The sale reached a total of €12,761,600 for 630 barrels (so €20,200 on average per barrel), which represents the 2nd most successful sale in the history of the Hospices after 2018.

The exceptional quality of the vintage and the willingness of buyers to take part in a great charity have prevailed over the current sanitary context with prices declining slightly compared to last year (-1.14% for the reds and – 4.32% for the whites).

Maison Albert Bichot buys 97 barrels and the “Pièce des Présidents”

A family-owned and independent Maison since 1831, Albert Bichot is a major patron in the preservation of Burgundian culture and heritage.

“Buying from the Hospices de Beaune is a tradition as much as it is a commitment”, says Albéric Bichot, 6th generation of the family and born at the Hospices de Beaune himself.

Albert Bichot has been the first buyer of the Hospices de Beaune wine auction for more than 20 years now.

Once again this year, Albert Bichot is proud to support the Hospices de Beaune by purchasing 98 barrels (including the “Pièce des Présidents”) for an amount of €2,974,000 or 22% of the total amount of the sale.

By acquiring the “Pièce des Présidents” for €660,000* on behalf of a Chinese friend, Albéric Bichot confirms his support for the “Hospitaliers de France” (French Hospital workers) victims of Covid-19. This barrel, a Clos de la Roche Grand Cru vinified in an oak cask from the Chambord Forest National Park was sold to their benefit. It embodies what the Hospices is all about: excellence for a noble cause.

Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne งานไวน์ยิ่งใหญ่ของเบอร์กันดี

ทุก ๆ สองปี แคว้นเบอร์กันดี  แหล่งผลิตไวน์เลื่องชื่อของโลก  ในประเทศฝรั่งเศส  จะจัดงานไวน์ยิ่งใหญ่ในชื่อว่า  Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne หรือ The Grand Days of Burgundy

ปีนี้ก็เช่นกัน งานจัดใหญ่ 5 วันเต็ม และนับเป็นครั้งที่ 13 โดยงานครั้งแรกนั้นจัดขึ้นในปี 1992  กิจกรรมมากมายกระจัดกระจายไปในหลายพื้นที่  เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้อยู่ในธุรกิจไวน์และผู้ที่หลงไหลในเสน่ห์ของไวน์ได้มาพบปะ  พร้อมชิมวินเทจล่าสุด   ซึ่งในครั้งนี้นอกจากจะเผยโฉมปี  2014  เป็นพิเศษแล้ว  ยังมีไวน์ดีจากปีเก่าก่อน  จากเขตต่าง ๆ ของเบอร์กันดี มาให้ได้ลิ้มชิมรสกัน

ประมาณว่ามีผู้ผลิตไวน์กว่า 1000 คน มาร่วมงานในครั้งนี้  โดยมีไวน์มากกว่า 10,000  ตัวให้ชม  ชิม และดื่มด่ำกันภายในเวลาเพียงแค่ 5 วัน

เข้างานวันแรกกันที่ Chateau du Clos de Vougeot  (ชาโต้ ดู โคล เดอ วูโจ) ต้องเล่านิดนึงว่า ชาโต้ หรือ ปราสาทเก่าแก่แห่งนี้   เริ่มสร้างมาตั้งแต่สมัยศตวรรษที่ 12  ปัจจุบันส่วนหนึ่งจัดทำเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ไวน์   และส่วนที่เหลือยังใช้เป็นสถานที่จัดงานด้านอาหารและไวน์ที่สำคัญ  ชาโต้แห่งนี้สวยงามสง่า ขรึมและขลังด้วยสถาปัตยกรรมยุคเก่าก่อน  ถือเป็นแลนด์มาร์กอันโดดเด่นของแคว้นเบอร์กันดีที่ต้องแวะมาชมกันอย่างยิ่ง

ส่วนด้านไวน์ที่มาชิมกันเป็นแห่งแรกนี้    ล้วนเป็นไวน์แดงเลื่องชื่อของโลกจากตำบล วอส์น-โรมาเน่ (Vosne Romanée)  ตามโปรแกรมจะยกให้ อัปเปลลาซิญง (appellation)  Clos de Vougeot เป็นตัวเอกของการ tasting   หากเดินเข้างานมาแล้วฉุ่มฉ่ำหัวใจ   ผู้ผลิตจัดให้ชิมกันจุใจตั้งแต่ไวน์ระดับ กรอง ครู (grand crus) อย่าง โคล เดอ วู โจ (Clos de Vougeot) และ เอ เช โซ (Echézeaux) หลายต่อหลายตัว รวมทั้งระดับ premier cru อย่าง Vosne Romanée

จบจากรอบเช้า  มาต่อกันช่วงบ่าย คราวนี้เป็นไวน์แดงเช่นกันจากเขต  Nuits‐Saint‐Georges , Chambolle และ Morey  จัดที่ Maison de Nuits ในเขต Nuits‐Saint‐Georges

ชิมชื่นมื่นไวน์แดงระดับ grand cru เช่น Clos de la Roche , Clos Saint Denis, Bonnes-Mares และไวน์ระดับ premier crus เช่น Morey-Saint-Denis และ Chambolle-Musigny

เข้าวันที่สอง  เริ่มเช้าวันใหม่กันด้วยไวน์ขาว  ที่ Palais des Congrès แห่งเมืองโบน (Beaune)  งานนี้โฟกัสกันที่ไวน์จากเขต Macôn ไล่ไปตั้งแต่ไวน์เลื่องชื่ออย่าง Pouilly-Fuissé ไวน์จาก Saint-Véran และไวน์มีฟอง หรือสปากกลิ้งไวน์ที่เรียกว่า Crémant de Bourgogne (เครมอง เดอ บูร์กอญ)

จบชื่นมื่นไวน์เทสติ้งด้วยมื้อเที่ยงในห้องจัดเลี้ยงที่เราเรียกกันเล่น ๆ ว่าแคน ทีน  อาหารท้องถิ่นเบอร์กันดีในสไตล์บุฟเฟ่อร่อยเลิศล้ำพร้อมไวน์แพร์ริ่ง

เข้าเช้าวันที่  3  สดใสกันด้วยรสชาติไวน์ขาว  จัดที่ Tonnellerie de Mercurey ในเขตเมอคูเร่   (Mercurey)

แม้ว่า เมอร์คูรี่ จะเป็นแหล่งผลิตทั้งไวน์ขาวและไวน์แดง  แต่ที่มาชิมกันวันนี้ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นไวน์ขาว  เขตนี้ไม่มีไวน์ระดับกรองครู  แต่มีไวน์ระดับ เพรอมิเอร์ ครู (premier cru) อาทิ  จี-วรี่  (Givry 1er cru)  รุลลี่ (Rully 1er cru) และ มงตาญยี่ (Montagny 1er cru)  รวมทั้งไวน์ขาวระดับท้องถิ่นอย่าง บูร์กอญ อะลิโกเต้ (Bourgogne Aligoté) และ บูเซอรง (Bouzeron)  ที่คอไวน์เมืองไทยอาจไม่คุ้นเคย  แต่เป็นไวน์ที่เป็นที่รู้จักและเป็นความภาคภูมิของชาวเบอร์กันดี

ปิดท้ายวันที่ 4 กันด้วย  Terroirs de Corton  ในแคว้นคอร์ตง  แม้ว่าเช้าวันนี้ฝนจะตกปรอยๆ   แต่ไม่อาจหักห้ามใจไม่ให้เดินชมความงามน่ารักของหมู่บ้าน อะลอส คอร์ตง  (Aloxe Corton) พร้อมเปรมปรีด์กับการชิมไวน์ คอร์ตง ที่เลื่องชื่อของโลก
