<p><strong>Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok</strong> welcomes World Champion <strong>Pastry Chef Masanori Hata</strong>, winner of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, for a limited-time residency at <strong>The Authors’ Lounge</strong>, presenting an afternoon tea that showcases his signature artistry and delicate balance of flavour.</p>
<p><span id="more-34700"></span>Available from 26 March to 25 April 2026, this special collaboration introduces guests to Chef Hata’s pastry creations through a selection of savouries, warm scones and desserts. Recognised internationally for his disciplined technique and thoughtful approach, Chef Hata brings his distinctive style to one of Bangkok’s most celebrated afternoon tea settings.</p>
<p>The experience begins with a sorbet course featuring Floating Island with Bourbon vanilla ice cream and sea-salted caramel, offering a gentle introduction to the afternoon tea that follows.</p>
<p>Guests may then enjoy a selection of tea sandwiches, including Boston lobster with tartare sauce, beef pastrami with potatoes and sour cream, yellow curry bread sandwich with celery heart and egg salad, smoked salmon with horseradish and cucumber, and coronation chicken salad with black olives.</p>
<p>The afternoon tea continues with warm plain and raisin scones, served with seasonal house-made jams and a choice of Devonshire clotted cream, mascarpone or butter.</p>

<p>Chef Hata’s pastry selection includes Lemon Mint Pie, Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Cake, Pistachio Griotte Cake, Apricot and Pistachio Macaron, Hazelnut Praline and Caramel Petit-Beurre Dulcey, and a Brioche Roll with Pear Compote and Jasmine Cream.</p>
<p>Served within the historic surroundings of The Authors’ Lounge, the experience reflects Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s long-standing connection with visiting culinary talents and the traditions of afternoon tea that have been part of the hotel’s story for generations. As Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok celebrates 150 years, the collaboration with Chef Masanori Hata continues the hotel’s tradition of welcoming distinguished guest chefs.</p>
<p>Afternoon tea is priced at THB 1,980++ per person, or THB 2,680++ per person including a glass of Champagne.</p>

The collaboration brings together two chefs whose approach is grounded in classical technique and guided by seasonality. <p><a style="line-height: 1.5;" href="http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok/">Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok</a><span style="line-height: 1.5;"> is delighted to welcome Three-star Michelin Chef Jacques Marcon from Restaurant Régis &amp; Jacques Marcon in France’s Haute Loire region back to the acclaimed </span><a style="line-height: 1.5;" href="http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok/fine-dining/le-normandie/">Le Normandie restaurant</a><span style="line-height: 1.5;"> for an exclusive collaboration to commemorate the legendary hotel’s 140</span><sup>th</sup><span style="line-height: 1.5;"> anniversary.</span></p>
<p>Along with his equally famous father, Chef Régis Marcon, their renowned restaurant in the village of Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid won numerous prestigious culinary awards and has been a member of <i>Les Grands</i> <i>Chefs Relais &amp; Châteaux</i> since 1997.  This extraordinary gastronomic duo received their three Michelin stars in 1990, 1997 and 2005 respectively.</p>
<p><span id="more-4956"></span>Renowned for his authentic French gastronomy and, in particular, his stunning use of mushrooms, Chef Jacques Marcon will collaborate with Le Normandie Chef de Cuisine Arnaud Dunand Sauthier and his team to present a series of exclusive five- and seven-course culinary experiences that include highlights such as roasted John Dory filet with verbena, cabbage and girolle; and pigeon with porcini praline and caramelised endive.  An exclusive six-course dinner menu paired with premium Bordeaux wines include a cassoulet of langoustine and green lentil; and lamb saddle on a hay crust with potato puree and porcini.</p>
<p>The five-course lunch menu is available from 1 to 6 February and a seven-course dinner menu from 1 to 5 February and cost THB 4,800++ and THB 8,500++ respectively.  Wine pairing options are also on offer.  The six-course wine dinner on 6 February costs THB 12,500++.</p>

<p>Following on from the success of the six Johnny Walker Houses around the globe, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok will present the Johnny Walker Trunk Show for the first time in Thailand, affording whisky lovers a unique opportunity to sample and purchase a selection of rare spirits distilled by Johnnie Walker and John Walker &amp; Sons Ltd.</p>
<p>The custom made larger-than-life luxury steamer trunk creates a highly tactile environment of leather, copper, marble, bronze, wood and steel finishing that brings to life the history, provenance and pioneering spirit of Johnnie Walker.  The show offers exclusive theatrical mentoring sessions which are immersions in the Johnnie Walker brand and product universe, through a combination of education, entertainment, storytelling and trial, led by brand ambassadors.  The trunk also features a tasting bar where guests can enjoy the pinnacle of whiskies from the Johnnie Walker Super Deluxe portfolio.</p>

<p><b>Whiskey Discovery Dinner</b></p>
<p>Johnnie Walker Scotch Whiskies and the legendary Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok are joining forces to present an exclusive Whisky Discovery Dinner in a Bangkok first.</p>
<p>Presented in the private dining room at <a href="http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok/fine-dining/lord-jims/">Lord Jim&#8217;s restaurant</a>, a maximum of twelve diners will be treated to a delectable four-course dinner designed by Executive Sous Chef Reto Weber, including foie gras raviolis and celeriac served in poultry consommé with fresh herbs; and Tarra Valley lamb loin served with rosemary, eggplant confit, fresh raspberries and black garlic.</p>
<p>Each course is accompanied by a premium whisky pairing, including the iconic J.W. King George V.  A celebratory Johnnie Walker range, J.W. King George V commemorates the first Royal Warrant granted to John Walker and Sons Ltd to supply Scotch whisky to the British Royal Household in 1934. Produced from exclusive ingredients from Port Ellen, Cardhu, Lochnagar and some very old grain whisky, this rare whisky took the ‘Whisky Of The Year’ award at the International Whisky Competition 2015.</p>
<p>Guests will also receive a bespoke bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label with their initials hand engraved on the bottle.</p>

<p>A well-known celebrity chef on German television, Hauser has been demonstrating his culinary skills on the ARD Büffet live show for seven years, and is a guest judge on ZDF Television’s Kitchen Battle show.</p>

<p><span id="more-3876"></span>Karlheinz Hauser’s pivotal culinary influences were one of the world’s most celebrated chefs, Eckart Witzigmann, at Aubergine restaurant in Munich, and later a tenure as head chef for the restaurant legend, Gerd Käfer.  Following his time in Munich, Hauser made his way to Berlin where he became executive chef and culinary manager at the Hotel Adlon, organising high profile dinners and banquets for dignitaries and celebrities from Jacques Chirac and Bill Clinton to Arnold Schwarzenegger.  In 2002 he was appointed chef and patron at Seven Seas restaurant.</p>
<p>For Hauser, the product is always the star in the kitchen and the selection of the best quality produce is critical to his culinary philosophy.  He excels with an exciting style of classic cuisine enhanced by contemporary and surprising accents.  During his guest appearance at the legendary, 139-year-old Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s <a href="http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok/fine-dining/lord-jims/">Lord Jim’s</a> restaurant, Hauser will focus on fine craftsmanship and outstanding ingredients with five- and seven-course dinner menus that include highlights such as scallops and foie gras served with artichokes, truffle and curly endive; and seabass and Brittany lobster with melon, carrot, ginger, coconut and yuzu.</p>
