Locavore NXT wins Sustainable Restaurant Award at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 It is the first time a restaurant wins the coveted award twice

Bali -  Locavore NXT has been awarded the Sustainable Restaurant Award 2025 at the recently held Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. Having also won the award in 2019 with the original Locavore restaurant, Locavore NXT is the first restaurant to win the prestigious award twice.

“This award is even more important to us this time around because while we took sustainability very seriously in 2019, we have learned a lot along the way and now feel that we have truly earned it,” says Chef and Co-owner of Locavore NXT, Ray Adriansyah, who picked up the award at the ceremony in Seoul.

Opened in December 2023, Locavore NXT is the natural evolution of the Locavore philosophy. Every square meter of the new location has been conceptualised with sustainability in mind – from the rooftop food forest and the 172 solar panels off-setting 30 percent of the restaurant’s electricity use, to the irrigation system, the Circular Waste Center, the bio-sewage system with over 20,000 worms and the fermentation kitchen transforming what would be waste from ingredients into delicious food. In an incredible first-year milestone, the team achieved 98.4 per cent waste diversion from landfill, which was instead either reused or recycled.

“Winning the Sustainable Restaurant Award by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for the second time is a great honour. We believe doing good isn’t a constraint, in fact, it’s a source of inspiration and a challenge to do better and be better every day,” says Eelke Plasmeijer, Chef and Co-owner of Locavore NXT. Locavore NXT is also ranked number 92 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025, a little over a year since opening.
