Durian Lovers Rejoice! Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Presents “Durian Decadent Afternoon Tea” Featuring the King of Fruits Experience a high-end afternoon tea and special menu creations featuring premium Monthong durian, available exclusively this summer from April 4 – May 31, 2025
As summer returns to Thailand, many eagerly anticipate the arrival of durian, the king of tropical fruits, with its uniquely aromatic, sweet, and creamy flavor beloved by Thais and people worldwide. This year, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit returns with its Durian Decadent Afternoon Tea campaign following last year’s tremendous success. The hotel has partnered with Toby’s Farm, a premium durian plantation from Chanthaburi province, for the second consecutive year to offer an afternoon tea experience that blends luxury with the distinctive taste of Monthong durian. This signature campaign artfully transforms Thailand’s treasured local delicacy into a world-class culinary experience, bridging East and West through sophisticated five-star presentation. The exclusive durian-themed afternoon tea set will be available only during the peak durian season, from April 4 – May 31, 2025.
Mr. Sammy Carolus, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, reveals, “Our Durian Decadent Afternoon Tea represents the perfect marriage between authentic Thai flavors and world-class culinary craftsmanship. This season, we’ve elevated our culinary artistry with premium-grade durian, presenting an exquisite collection of sweet and savory creations alongside curated tea and coffee pairings that have captivated our guests. The exceptional reception from both local connoisseurs and international travelers last year inspired us to renew our collaboration with Toby’s Farm for a second consecutive year, continuing our commitment to sourcing only the finest Monthong durian. Through this signature offering, we’re positioning Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit as the must-visit summer destination for discerning food lovers from Thailand and across the globe who seek an unforgettable taste of Thailand’s most iconic fruit in a luxurious setting.”
Mr. Thawatchai Chongsuphong, owner of Toby’s Farm, says, ” We are proud to collaborate with Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit for the second consecutive year. This partnership provides an opportunity for quality Thai durian to be recognized in new dimensions. Toby’s Farm meticulously selects durian from the growing process through to harvesting, choosing premium-grade Monthong durian with the best flavor and texture to deliver to the hotel, enabling the creation of special culinary experiences in a 5-star setting.”
Durian enthusiasts will swoon over the refined afternoon tea collection crafted by the hotel’s skilled culinary team. Premium Monthong durian from Toby’s Farm shines as the hero ingredient throughout this elegant 12-item spread, where the fruit’s distinctive creamy notes appear in thoughtful variations that both surprise and satisfy. Each creation showcases the king of fruits in innovative presentations that balance sophistication with pure enjoyment.
The journey begins with seven distinct sweet creations, each offering a unique twist on the king of fruits. The Durian Scone and Pineapple Jam blends dried durian powder directly into the flour, yielding a tender crumb with subtle aromatic notes, perfectly complemented by bright pineapple jam for contrast. A thin, crisp shell houses the Durian Cheese Tart, where velvety cream cheese melds with smooth Monthong for a balanced sweet-savory experience. The Durian Chiffon Cake stands out with its airy texture, fragrant with notes of the fruit and fresh coconut milk, topped with a light vanilla cream. The Durian Panna Cotta offers a silky-smooth consistency and gentle aroma that doesn’t overwhelm the palate. No durian showcase would be complete without the iconic Durian Sticky Rice – pillowy rice enriched with coconut milk alongside perfectly ripened durian segments; a timeless Thai classic reimagined for the afternoon tea setting.
Complementing the durian creations are pastries showcasing premium seasonal fruits. The Orange Mousse features a light texture with the bright tang of mandarin oranges, balanced perfectly against white chocolate’s subtle sweetness. Meanwhile, the innovative Tamarind Macaron pairs the distinctive sweet-sour notes of tamarind with milk chocolate’s rich depth – an unexpected combination that creates a memorable flavor profile.
The savory portion of the menu showcases three standout creations with durian taking unexpected savory turns. The Durian Cheese Spring Roll encases a decadent mixture of melted cheddar and durian within a crisp, golden wrapper – delivering a textural contrast between the crackling exterior and the luscious filling. For a fresh counterpoint, the Avocado Salsa Sandwich layers creamy avocado with tomatoes and shallots on pillowy rye bread. Completing the savory trio, the Pomelo Salad Cracker combines the sweet pomelo with shallots and toasted coconut atop a crisp base – a bright, textural bite that balances the menu.
To elevate the experience, the hotel offers thoughtfully selected beverages: velvety durian smoothies, aromatic herbal infusions, and premium teas and coffees. Guests can also indulge in silky durian gelato from Café Buongiorno, with fresh mangosteen provided as the perfect palate cleanser. Beyond the afternoon tea experience, whole Monthong durians are available for purchase at 500++ baht per kilogram, with complimentary peeling service included. Guests may enjoy their durian in the restaurant or take it home.
The Durian Decadent Afternoon Tea is served for a limited time at Sukhumvit Gallery, 4th floor, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit (BTS Nana Station, exit 3) from April 4 – May 31, 2025 (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM), priced at 800++ baht per person and 1,500++ baht for two persons.
