Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is delighted to present a trio of world class whisky events to delight aficionados and novices alike.
Following on from the success of the six Johnny Walker Houses around the globe, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok will present the Johnny Walker Trunk Show for the first time in Thailand, affording whisky lovers a unique opportunity to sample and purchase a selection of rare spirits distilled by Johnnie Walker and John Walker & Sons Ltd.
The custom made larger-than-life luxury steamer trunk creates a highly tactile environment of leather, copper, marble, bronze, wood and steel finishing that brings to life the history, provenance and pioneering spirit of Johnnie Walker. The show offers exclusive theatrical mentoring sessions which are immersions in the Johnnie Walker brand and product universe, through a combination of education, entertainment, storytelling and trial, led by brand ambassadors. The trunk also features a tasting bar where guests can enjoy the pinnacle of whiskies from the Johnnie Walker Super Deluxe portfolio.
The Johnny Walker Trunk Show takes place at The Cigar Lounge at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok from 30 October until 13 November 2015. The mentoring sessions by Johnny Walker experts are presented on Fridays and Saturdays during the event, from 19h00 until 20h00. Whiskey Discovery Dinner
Johnnie Walker Scotch Whiskies and the legendary Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok are joining forces to present an exclusive Whisky Discovery Dinner in a Bangkok first.
Presented in the private dining room at Lord Jim’s restaurant, a maximum of twelve diners will be treated to a delectable four-course dinner designed by Executive Sous Chef Reto Weber, including foie gras raviolis and celeriac served in poultry consommé with fresh herbs; and Tarra Valley lamb loin served with rosemary, eggplant confit, fresh raspberries and black garlic.
Each course is accompanied by a premium whisky pairing, including the iconic J.W. King George V. A celebratory Johnnie Walker range, J.W. King George V commemorates the first Royal Warrant granted to John Walker and Sons Ltd to supply Scotch whisky to the British Royal Household in 1934. Produced from exclusive ingredients from Port Ellen, Cardhu, Lochnagar and some very old grain whisky, this rare whisky took the ‘Whisky Of The Year’ award at the International Whisky Competition 2015.
Guests will also receive a bespoke bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label with their initials hand engraved on the bottle.

World Class Bartender Jimmy Barrat;
On 30 and 31 October 2015, award winning bartender Jimmy Barrat will take up a guest residency at the iconic Bamboo Bar. A finalist in the prestigious Diageo Reserve World Class Bartending Competition on numerous occasions, Jimmy will delight aficionados with his signature cocktails, including a whisky-based ‘Japanese Penicillin’ cocktail.
Barrat is a bartender with a passion for creativity and a flair for the exceptional who continues to innovate and push the boundaries of bartending. Born in Cannes, he grew up in his family restaurant where he found his inspiration from his grandfather, a legendary bartender, to push the boundaries of mixology and the culinary arts. Barrat has since won numerous awards and worked in some of the world’s most prestigious bars.
Various Johnnie Walker drams are also on offer, including the iconic J.W. King George V; as well as a tasting flight of J.W. Gold Label Reserve, J.W. Platinum and J.W. Blue Label.
