Rocking Thai Cheese Tour Rolls into The Service at 1921 House at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Chiang Mai, Thailand – Experience the best of Chiang Mai’s natural beauty and local organic produce as The Service at 1921 House at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort hosts the next stop on the Thai Cheese Tour on Friday, May 3rd, 2024. This exclusive event promises an evening of gourmet delights set against the historic backdrop of the stunning teak mansion.

This event will be the only Thai Cheese Tour stop to feature “Meet the Cheesemakers”, which introduces three of the region’s top cheesemakers based in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in attendance, to showcase the best of Thailand’s cheese-making skills.

Chiang Mai, known for its lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage, offers a unique blend of nature and culinary delights. The region boasts an abundance of local and organic produce, making it a haven for food enthusiasts seeking authentic and sustainable dining experiences.

Guests can look forward to an unforgettable evening filled with exceptional gourmet cheesy bites transformed by the culinary team at The Service at 1921 House. Pair these delights with the finest wines from GranMonte Vineyard and Winery, Thailand’s only Geographical Indication (GI)-certified wine producer, for a truly indulgent experience. SEII Namasake and SEII Umeshu, crafted in Thailand by Chef Black and his team will also be available for guests to experience. SEII Namasake features local sticky rice from Chiang Rai and handpicked plums from Mae Wang, Chiang Mai, respectively, offering a perfect blend of local ingredients and artisanal craftsmanship.

Meet the Cheesemakers at the Thai Cheese Tour at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort 

Dofann Cheese:

Brice Renaud, the cheese master from Alsace and a resident of Chiang Mai, along with his wife Din Sathita Renaud has been creating cheese and dairy products known under Dofann Cheese, specialising in Goat cheeses using local milk and traditional techniques. Dofann has grown exponentially over its eight years of existence. It started by producing a single fresh goat’s cheese. Now it produces nine varieties of goat’s cheese, a goat’s milk and cow’s milk blend, and a smaller selection of pure cow’s milk cheeses.

Jartisann Cheeserie:

This Chiang Mai-based cheesery, run by Jarutat “Jart” Snidwongse Na Ayuthaya and his wife Ann, is considered a pioneer in Thailand’s artisanal cheesemaking movement. They use local milk to create a variety of cheeses with unique flavors, including hard cheeses, soft cheeses, and even blue cheeses. Jartisann Cheeserie, in Chiang Mai, is known for their unique cheeses that blend traditional methods with a Thai twist.

Lanna Cheese:

Lanna Cheese Company, a small family business founded by Ms. Apinya Tae-uea (Am) and Mr. Stefano Armbruster along with their son, Mr. Ekabut Somnate (Up), focuses on producing high-quality cheese using locally sourced milk from Chiang Mai Province. Their cheese, mainly from cow’s milk, aims to add value to the community’s raw materials. Their restaurant, Mediterranean Kitchen, offers a menu centered around artisanal cheese, with wood-fired oven pizzas and cheese platters.
